The local area

Brandesburton Primary School

Schools.

You can send your littles ones to Brandesburton Primary School, which has a Good Ofsted rating and is focussed on  helping pupils develop enquiring, imaginative and creative minds.

Your nearest secondary schools are in Hornsea (mixed), or Beverley – Beverley Grammar School (boys) or Beverley High School (girls). There’s a regular bus service to both Hornsea and Beverley so your children will have no trouble getting there and back.

Eating & Drinking

There are two local pubs in Brandesburton: The Dacre Arms and The Black Swan, so you’ll have no trouble finding a spot to get snuggled in and have a drink.

Burt’s Pizzeria and Cafe is a great place to go for a relaxed atmosphere and good food, plus it’s open all day and even serves breakfast. You’ll also find Harper’s Fish and Chip shop and China Palace which are highly rated by the locals.

If you fancy a bit of fine dining you can head over to the Michelin starred Inn The Pipe and Glass near Beverly.

Village Life & Travel Links

You’ll find a post office, newsagent, small supermarket and a bakery all on your doorstep.

From Brandesburton you’ll have easy access to Hornsea, Bridlington, Driffield, Beverley and Hull.

The closest railway stations to the village are Hornsea and Beverley. From here you can hop on the train to Scarborough, Sheffield, Bridlington and Hull. If you drive to Hull Station (35 mins away) there’s secure and reasonably-priced car park (£5 per day), allowing you to get the train to York, Leeds and Manchester.

There are regular buses to Beverley, Hornsea and Hull.

Leisure

Just 6 miles from the seaside town of Hornsea, 10 miles from historical Beverley (where you’ll find a Minster, Racecourse and shopping) and only 15 miles from Hull – the 2017 City of Culture – you’ll never be short of things to do in Brandesburton.

If you’re the sporty type you’ll be pleased to know there’s Hainsworth Park Golf Club which boasts a beautiful parkland course with wide fairways, Fosse Hill jet ski lake, Warley Cross Stables, Livery and Competition Yard, and Humberside Shooting Ground all on your doorstep.

The Countryside

Brandesburton is a short journey away from the Yorkshire Wolds, so is an excellent place to live for walkers and cyclists.

There are some lovely walks you can do around Brandesburton and the Northern Holderness area –  you’ll find a useful list of walks here. If you like woodland walks (that aren’t too taxing) Burton Agnes Hall near Driffield is worth a visit, and you can pop into the cafe afterwards.

You can drive to the North York Moors National Park to take in the beautiful scenery or take advantage of the 79-mile Yorkshire Wolds Way National Trail, which attracts thousands of visitors every year, due to the stunning scenery and the opportunity to explore some lesser-known parts of Yorkshire.

The Coast

Brandesburton is only 6 miles from Hornsea and 14 miles from Bridlington, so if you’re after a bit of sea air and some fresh fish and chips you’re in the perfect location.

It’s also very close to the route for the Way of the Roses – a coast-to-coast cycleway, which boasts 170 miles of the finest views that Yorkshire and Lancashire have to offer, including the Lune Valley, Yorkshire Dales, Nidderdale and the Yorkshire Wolds.
